JCCの現在の会長である小坂田さんから、古いPCのメモリー保存版を見つけたので見ていたら、こんな写真がでてきましたといってこの写真が送られてきました。　この写真には２００８年８月の日付けがついていますが、２０２３年現在の時点で１５年昔の写真で、ここに映っていらっしゃる２４人のうち、亡くなっている方々は小坂田さんが知る限り７−８人（１/３）ということです。

まだ亡くなっていない殆どの方々はLWVで健在です。日本へ帰国した人が２人、リトル東京へ方へ引っ越しした人が二人です。

この写真はCoontzさんの家の建物の1階にあるレクルームで２００８年４月に撮った１５年前の物です。

昔はこんな所でも例会をやっていたのだと言うことです。

この時はみなさんまだ若いですね。

このセラミックプレートは今は亡き Cassie Tsubota さんの作品で現在もクラブハウス１の外側、噴水に面する箇所に飾ってあります。　我らがホームページのロゴはこのセラミックプレートをイラスト風にイメージして作成したものです。

以下は現在の会長、マイク小坂田さんによる Cassie さんについての追悼文です。

 『Cassie さんは　Bob’s Boys Club の　Bob Tsubota さんの奥さんです。

（でした）近代JCCが発足する前にはBobさんが会長、Cassieさんが副会長だったのでしょうが、実務はCassie さんが Bobさんよりももっとやっておられたのかもしれず、JCC の主みたいな人で、近代になってからも 何年も（多分５−６回）も副会長として役員に名を連ね裏方に徹し、会によく協力してくれましたので、皆んなが役員でない時でも名誉役員で名前を入れておかなければ落ち着かないねと言っていたような人でした。

といって出しゃばることもなく、例会以外の臨時会などでも、いつでも出て来てくれ、黙々と準備とか後片付けなどをやって下さるというような人格的に素晴らしい人で、みんなに好かれ尊敬されていました。 そして、JCCは自分が創ったという意識をもっておられ、いつも会の事を気にかけておられたので、長年続けていた陶器Craftの工房でJCCのプレートを焼き上げ、色々なクラブの存在を主張するあの場所に自分で持って行って掲げて下さったのですが、あのセラミックプレートによくそれが現れていると思います。

そういうことで、これはCassieさんの遺した記念碑ともいうべきJCCの魂とか象徴であり、HPに載せてJCC会員の人々にいつまでも心に留めておいてもらいたいと思っています。』

This photo of a ceramic plate is the creation of the late Cassie Tsubota, and it can still be seen on one of the columns of  the main building of Club House 1 facing the fountain.  Our website logo is created from the image of this celamic plate. The following are some words by Mike Osakada, the president, in memory of Cassie.

”Cassie was the wife of Bob Tsubota of the Bob’s Boys Club.

Bob was the president and Cassie the vice president of the initial organization that evolved into the present JCC. In actuality, it was Cassie who had virtually managed the club, and thus, considered the founder of the organization together with Bob we have today.

While Cassie never held the title of president of JCC, she was more or less the virtual manager of the club. Having held the position of vice president for about five to six years even after the new club started, she always stayed behind the scene to cooperate in club activities.  So, even in times when she never held an official post in the club, we felt she had always been an honorary director of JCC. Never obtrusive,  she would  even attend non-regular special meetings, and work quietly to prepare for and clean up after the meetings.  She was loved and admired for her outstanding character. 

She was always aware of her role as a founding member of the club. This was reflected in her creating of the ceramic plaque for the club, using her skills acquired over many years as a member of the ceramics club. She personally, placed the plaque at a spot where she considered would well assert the existence of our club.

For this reason,  we consider this plaque to be a memorial tablet left by Cassie, showing the soul and symbol of our club.  It is something we should all remember her by.”
